Tropical North Queensland is a remarkable region where Australia’s celebrated Daintree
Rainforest meets the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef. At an estimated 180 million
years old, the Daintree Rainforest is regarded as the oldest in the world. It is one of the most
complex ecosystems on earth, containing living examples of ancient plants unique to the
area as well as hundreds of species of birds, animals and reptiles. The Daintree is home to
the Indigenous Kuku Yalanji people who have a deep connection with the land, and distinct
ancient cultural origins. Silky Oaks Lodge provides a hub for the many wonderful adventures
and discoveries on offer in the region including Mossman Gorge, the Great Barrier Reef and
Cape Tribulation.
