If you are ready to learn to ski or snowboard, then there is no better place to tackle the challenge than New Zealand. From tiny tots to old dogs looking to learn new tricks, New Zealand has the variety of locations, facilities and dedicated snow professionals to get you up and carving on skis or boards. Working out where to go and what to do can be a bit daunting, so here is some information and options to get you on the right track!

Whether it is your first time on the snow or you want to advance your skills in a specific area, we have Group Lessons tailored to your needs! Our experienced coaches will work with you to develop your skiing or snowboarding skills and fine-tune your technique.

Fine Print

Group Lessons are suited to First Timers through to skiers and snowboarders confident over the whole mountain.

  • Ability Levels:   
    • First Timer: this is your first-time skiing or riding on snow
    • Learner Zone: You have previously skied or snowboarded but are still learning the basics of turning and controlling speed. Progressing to leaving the learner conveyors onto our chairlift accessible Green Runs.
    • Green Zone: You can ride a chairlift, control your speed skiing or snowboarding on Green runs progressing to Blues.
    • Blue – Red Zone: You are comfortable on blue runs whilst making a variety of different turn shapes or sizes to control yourself in the mountain environment. Beginning advance to more difficult Blues or Red Runs

Lesson Details:

  • Lessons start at 10am and run to 3:30pm
  • Unsupervised lunch from approximately 12.20pm – 1.30pm
  • Please arrive at the lesson meeting area on the snow 15 minutes before your lesson start time
  • Plan to be on the mountain an hour before your lesson starts so you have enough time to collect your rental equipment and MyPass Card. You can also pick up your rental equipment and MyPass Card in the Snow Centre located in The Station building at 25 Shotover Street
  • Please note that a Group Lesson with only one person in it will receive a reduced lesson time
  • If you’re catching the Ski Bus, please aim for the 7.30am Ski Bus
  • Please note that our Lessons do not include a Lift Pass or Rentals.



It doesn’t get better than a Private Lesson with one of our world class coaches.

Enjoy priority lift access and coaching from a pro who will focus on maximising your ability and confidence in any area of the mountain you choose. Park, groomers or powder, you’ll be coming away from this a level above and wanting more.

Half and Full Day Private Coaching caters for up to six people, so bring along a few mates or the family at no additional cost for some epic value.  2 hour private coaching caters for up to 3 people.

Full Day Lesson Times:   

  • 9am – 3:30pm

Half Day Lesson Times 

  • 9am – 12pm
  • 12:30am – 3:30pm

2 hour private Lesson Times:   

  • 9am
  • 11am
  • 1:30pm

Please meet your coach 5 minutes prior to start time, at the Private Coaching flag on in the Snowsports meeting area on snow. Please have all your equipment and Lift Pass and be ready to hit the lifts.
