What to Expect
Discover for yourself what makes this part of Australia so special and join us on tour from Perth to Monkey Mia. Start your journey in the sunny city of Perth and travel through some of this country’s most scenic and wild landscape. Start your adventure exploring the strange and eerie Pinnacles Desert, where limestone structures reach up out of the golden desert sands. Stay overnight in the sleepy seaside town of Kalbarri, where the Murchison River flows out into the Indian Ocean. This idyllic little town is the gateway to Kalbarri National Park, where you can peer through Nature’s Window and hike down into a brilliant red gorge to view ancient fossils and stunning rock formations. You can even have a go at abseiling (own expense). We then make our way into Shark Bay, so special it is World Heritage Listed! Monkey Mia’s dolphins may be the most famous residents, but many turtles, dugongs, emus and kangaroos call this region home too! Shell Beach, made of millions of tiny white shells, is a truly unique experience and then learn about The Stromatolites of Hamelin Pool. Monkey Mia itself is sure to be a highlight! The beach here is frequented by many dolphins who come in quite close to shore making for some wonderful viewing experiences. Relax on the beach, cool off with a swim or relax at the café overlooking the beautiful scenery. However, you choose to enjoy Monkey Mia you will surely take home some long lasting memories! We then make our way back towards Perth, stopping along the way for comfort breaks before having you back to your Perth accommodation in the evening. Day 1 – Perth to Kalbarri Kick off your adventure early, leaving sunny Perth to take a guided tour through the eerie limestone structures and golden sands of the Pinnacles Desert before enjoying lunch by the sea then journey up Indian Ocean Drive for some stunning coastal views. After a quick stop in Geraldton, it’s on to the seaside town of Kalbarri for our overnight accommodation. (L, D). Driving distance 575km. Walking distance 2km. Day 2 – Kalbarri National Park to Monkey Mia Visit the marvels of The Murchison Gorge, Nature’s Window and Z-Bend in Kalbarri National Park where water has carved its way through sandstone. Here you have the option to try abseiling (additional cost). Witness bright pops of colour here during wildflower season (spring). Enjoy a great photo opportunity at Nature’s Window before strolling a beach made entirely of tiny shells. Then it’s on to Monkey Mia where we will stay right by the beach with resident dolphins. (B, L, D). Driving distance 450km. Walking distance 4km. Day 3 – Monkey Mia to Northhampton This morning we will meet the famous Monkey Mia Dolphins and get some up and close amazing photos. Choose to hire a Kayak and go for a paddle (optional extra), chill out on the beach or at the resort. We then visit the breathing rock formations called the Stromatolites before we head back towards our final night of the tour for a unique overnight stay. (B, L, D) Driving distance 385km. Walking distance 2km. *If minimum numbers are not met for this tour, an alternative itinerary will operate. This south bound sector may be operated by one of our coach sharing partners. Day 4 – Return to Perth Enjoy the last views of the countryside, as we travel south towards Perth – the capital of Western Australia. Kick back and relax on the bus as you’ll have plenty of time to explore the sights on your return. (B) Driving distance 470km.
